Skip Beat is an anime and shoujo manga created by Yoshiki Nakamura. Skip Beat is about Kyoko Mogami, a sixteen year old girl who gave up on going to high school to live with and take care of her childhood friend Sho Fuwa. Sho is a famous singer and Kyoko's love interest. One day, Kyoko over hears Sho having a conversation with his manager about how he only keeps Kyoko around as a house maid and nothing more. Furious and heart broken, she vows to get revenge by beating him in show business. Kyoko goes through a lot as she works her way to the top and, even though she vows to never have a romance with anyone again, can't help but feel a close connection with Tsuruga Ren, Sho's enemy in show business.
